This is just a really nice restaurant on the water. It is set away from the highway so it is quiet. The food was great, the staff was nice, and the view was amazing.
I definitely recommend the outdoor seating. We have a couple of kids that really don't like to eat outside most of the time. They hate fighting the bugs. With the deck right on the ocean the bugs really did not bother us.
The Lazy Days Restaurant does have a very extensive menu. We love seafood, but our kids...not so much. The fresh fish was great. We both had the hogfish, which the waiter said was the freshest catch that day. This honestly was one of the best pieces of fish I have ever eaten. The kids were able to find pasta and burgers to keep them happy.
The real draw here for us was that it was on the water. The entertainment was wonderful to keep the kids occupied. We were able to watch many different birds. These included cormorants, gulls, terns, and egrets, but the real stars of the show were the pelicans. They were flying high into the sky and diving straight into the ocean to cath some lunch. It was truly amazing to see.
The Lazy Days Restaurant is one of those places that just felt right. The food was excellent, everyone was nice, and the natural entertainment was spectacular. This is one of those places that will live in our memory of this trip forever. I will make a special trip to Islamorda the next time I am in Southern Florida just to eat lunch on the Lazy Days porch.
