The Museum Rules

We createdTthe Museum Rules as a reminder to the kids that certain behaviors are expected in large public areas. The Museum Rules apply to any situation where there are crowds of people, and it is important that we communicate and stick together. After a few times of covering The Museum Rules in the car before entering a museum, the kids knew them well enough that all we have to do now is say "The Museum Rules are in effect."

1. Wear bright colors.
2. Stay close to each other.
3. Always tell the others when you are going your own way.
4. If you split up, arrange a meeting time and place.
5. Talk to the staff and volunteers. They know a lot.
6. Allow everyone a chance to see.
7. Touch only when permitted.
8. Speak quietly and move slowly.
9. If there is something to read, read it.
10. Respect the museum, its exhibits, staff and visitors.
