Being a percussionist I had high hopes for the Sound Garden in Cadillac MI. I was slightly let down. I was hoping for more, but this is still an interesting, unique, and fun stop.

The Sound Garden consists of 3 specific areas in a small park. They were created by a man who is both a sculptor and musician. The “instruments” are hanging logs and parts of cars that you bang on with sticks. When we were there some of the sticks were missing and we had to find replacements. You may want to bring your own sticks.

If you are a drummer, or just like to bang on things, this is a must-see.

Dad: This is not a destination by any stretch of the imagination, just a nice roadside distraction. It is unique, and helps kids get their wiggles out. Nothing like pounding on big things (instead of each other) on a road trip. Also, there are great rocks and weird shells to look at on the water’s edge across the street. The sound garden is located right by the high school in town.

Other Reviews:

Mom: If you go over to the lake, be sure to look for the weird blue rocks. We believe they are slag from an ironworks that used to be in the area.
